The PH850-MT from Apera Instruments is a portable and easy-to-use pH meter designed specifically for the fast, precise, and reproducible measurement of pH, ORP (electrode sold separately, e.g., 301Pt-C), and temperature in meat, fish, and semi-frozen foods.

Equipped with the LabSen® 763 pH electrode, the PH850-MT features a food-grade titanium blade tip for safe penetration into meat, fish, and other food items without damaging the glass membrane. The solid polymer electrolyte, combined with the hole-diaphragm structure, ensures that the diaphragm remains clear of food particles, preventing clogging and ensuring consistent performance. The electrode also includes an integrated temperature sensor for automatic temperature compensation (ATC).

With its rugged silicone cover, the PH850-MT is waterproof and dustproof (IP57), making it well-suited for both indoor and field use in harsh environments. The fold-out stand provides convenient use on flat surfaces, while the large illuminated LCD displays pH and temperature readings, as well as additional measurement and calibration data. The meter also features easy 1- to 3-point calibration and self-diagnosis for troubleshooting.

Electrode:

The LabSen® 763 from Apera Instruments is a pH electrode with integrated temperature sensor and is manufactured using proprietary Swiss sensor technology and materials. Equipped with a blade, the electrode is particularly suitable for pH measurement of meat, fish and semi-frozen foods.

LabSen S-Type Pointed Glass Diaphragm – Thanks to the low-resistance and rugged pointed glass diaphragm, the electrode delivers fully stabilized readings in 15 to 30 seconds, yet is up to 10 times more robust than conventional products, significantly reducing the likelihood of the electrode breaking during impact or when penetrating samples.

Polymer electrolyte with hole diaphragm structure – Allows direct contact with test samples without clogging the diaphragm structure. The electrolyte does not need to be refilled.

Long-life reference system – The LabSen 763 pH electrode uses a long-life reference system consisting of a glass tube, AgCl and a reference silver wire. The top of the slim glass tube is filled with cotton, which prevents the reaction between AgCl and electrolyte when the temperature changes. It improves the stability of the reference electrode and extends the life of the electrode.
